Biophilia, understood as the innate human inclination to connect with living beings, together with the concept of care, grounded in responsibility and relational bonds, provides a solid starting point for an ethics of life conservation. This perspective fosters a view that recognizes the interdependence among humans, other species, and ecosystems, encouraging everyday practices of respect and safeguard. Such an orientation supports the development of an ecological consciousness embodied by the homo ecologicus, who perceives themselves as an integral part of the web of life. An ethic grounded in biophilia and care can guide truly sustainable and transformative behaviors in today’s dramatically challenging environmental global context.
